monk

monk, originally uploaded by shivahuja.

another shot from my sri-lanka archive,
taken on an island near colombo where only this monk and another one stay, they have devoted their lives to this temple,he was born on this island and hasnt left it ever since, other than when he was really sick.
there was a huge buddha shrine and an old ancient book of scriptures which was quite interesting when they translated it for us,
great experience.......!!!

Hi Shiv,

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.

To answer your questions, I always shoot outdoors or any situation where reflections and glare could be an issue, with circular polarizers. The camera I use most is a D200, and I have a 24-70mm f3.5 Nikon, an 85mm f1.8 Nikon, a 12-24mm f4 Tokina, and a 80-200mm f2.8 Tokina. I love my Tokina lenses, they offer so much bang for the buck, I actually like them better than my Nikon 24-70mm f3.5 which is a little disappointing, but my 85mm f1.8 is awesome. I also have an Olympus E300 and a couple of lenses, assorted speedlights, some studio lights, some other gadgets, tripods/monopods etc. and one of my old 35mm film SLR cameras. (I don't shoot with the film so much anymore.)

I like this shot quite a lot. The exposure is good and the orange pops. I'm not thrilled with the crop, it's a bit narrow, but not knowing what was cropped out, I'm not going to take anything away from it for that.
